Satan & bad angels kicked out of heaven before time & universe began?
These guys are evil? How many? Billions? Do they reproduce? Is there one to influence & tempt everyone in the world or do they flit from one person to another, back & forth, 24/7? If not enough to go around there must be alot of people who are not in Satan's world other than just the JWs I mean. Or can they be in more than 1 place at a time?
Satan tempts eve, kids are born, split into good and bad.
geneology of good kept on record - some lived 900 yrs or so. (wouldn't some of these guys still be alive to preserve word of mouth deterioration of garden of eden story et al? other than just moses?)
Pagans worshipped false gods - exiled angels? (Bad recollection of handed down God & Garden story which still would have had some originals still alive? - Egyptians left holes in pyramids to let soul escape?)
There is supposed to be 1 God.
If you believe there is 1 God, how do people believe that these other gods exist?
And if you don't believe that these other gods exist how can you worship them accidently when you look at a christmas tree for instance? (is there 1 demon for each decorated christmas tree? or is there 1 that receives symbolic worship from all christmas trees.
or a totem pole for example if you see only cool art on a stick and never pray to it? does a bad angel see you looking at it, mistake it for veneration because it doesn't know your heart, then mark your head and move on to the next guy?
If the 1 God is the only one to read the hearts of man and you believe there is only 1 God then God must know this and when your heart belongs to the one true God you are supposed to be protected and Satan has no power over you?
If the muslims believe in the one true God of the bible is it the same one even tho it has 1 extra prophet?
If Jesus said
where-ever 2 or 3 are gathered in my name, I'll be there ...
even if bible instructions are only meant for the "annointed" if 8,000 or so alive today, divided by 2 or 3 = more than 1 place at a time. Is he omnipresent? If he is a good angel are other's omnipresent?
Do the 8,000 ever gather in His name? Is gathering the same as worship?
If they don't gather in his name because he is an angel albeit a good one why did Jesus say what he did?
If they don't gather who does?
If others do is he really "there" like he said he'd be? Or is it holy spirit that comes? Is that impersonation?
Did this just occur before he took his seat in 1914?
If these bad angels are called false gods (pagan) and
Jesus is a good god John 1:1 (because there are lots of gods)
but only the one true God will be left at the end of the world and the rest will perish as quoted in Jeremiah, how does it all end with key players out of the picture?
If Jesus is the Abaddon of the bible as the AID Book defines and the rest of christians call abaddon the devil, i'm confused who is it who comes out of the abyss?
So the definitions in the dictionaries are all wrong because the devil corrupted these scholars, time after time to confuse?
Doesn't a word mean one thing and that is why people use it in a sentence?
If they say devil they mean devil, if they say abaddon means devil then that is what they mean when they say it so that people with understand what they mean!
These 8,000 or so left that are annointed with holy spirit when 1 dies where does this holy spirit go or is it just turned off?
When someone dies I've heard the words "Its just a shell"
was there something inside other what is seen in the casket?
Is it the mind? Isn't the brain part of the shell?
Is it the mind that will be "recalled" to the recreated shell at the resurrection?
Why doesn't God read minds instead of hearts? or are they the same thing?
Too many questions I know.
If this stuff is supposed to be logical so that man can "reason" his way to believe the 'truth' then any answers should be short & sweet.
And the biggest question of all...
How do they get the caramel in a caramilk bar?
last wednesday i had the absolute joy of attending the theocratic ministry school and the sales meeting.
my wife was giving a talk and i chose to support her by being there to here her speech.. one thing i found extremely funny was a point they made about what 'the name' really means.
see if you think this makes sense:.
Maybe someone else remembers seeing the concordance reference number attached to the word Jah-ovah
I'm pretty sure the # has 43 in it - 1943?
In the concordance it defines this as 'god of mischief'
How much mischief has come out from this org in this name?
I say if the shoe fits ....
this is the instant message conversation i had with my sister in law on friday.
it makes me so sad because i think that she in her heart recognizes the truth of what i am saying, but then the jw brainswashing takes over and she just stops thinking.. sorry it's so long!!.
c: you are very special to me.. c: i love you deeply.
I get frustrated when just about any topic that comes up cannot be discussed seriously or even in fun because you know it might lead to the taboo area.
A couple of months ago it was Sept 11
then the taliban
then US might need to call upon NGOs
then Harry potter
disciplining children
kids report cards
close relative in trouble
now its christmas
the list is endless
makes for very sad, superficial relationships and where marriage is concerned the "one flesh" quickly or slowly but either way becomes two
one of the reasons i thought armageddon was close at hand was.
the impending obsolescence of the bible as a source of revelation.. the bible was written within the context of a large number of.
conditions that eventually would be changed by technology, i reasoned,.
I liked the alternate look at paul's words, well thought out and highly possible!
but
Wasn't there an awake article posted not too long ago citing the real poop on women?
Its the fact that the circumference of a woman's skull ergo her brain is smaller as well as those wicked 2 days each month
Science .... always getting in the way.
Sorry, I'm in some kind of mood tonight.
has anyone read this book "myths to live by" or any others by joseph campbell?.
myths and legends are found in every culture of every time period including a creation story, a fall, heros, devils, good/evil battles, flood, virgin birth, savior, resurrection, second comings, judgements, eternal bliss - amazing.
myth, legend, ritual all have their place as a temporary answer that binds individuals to their local group but long gone is the time when one group should claim "exclusivity" to these stories.. the historical references, hindu, buddist, native american, et al and even christian, if they have any meaning at all, must be secondary for in times gone by where the "social unit" was the tribe, the religious sect, a nation, or even a civilization, it was possible for the local myths that serviced to represent all those beyond its territory as inferior - their human heritage of imagery was true and sanctified or at least supreme.
Your are right on that point.
Another very good look on things is a recent book "The Battle for God" by Karen Armstrong.
Goes thru the history of the 3 main religions from 1492 to present.
History meaning how governments, wars, business, fundamentalism, etc, even the world's vocabulary were tied to these religions. Jewish conflicts, western culture vs east, how the hate began, who pushed when etc.
Very good definitions of the mythos vs logos - imagery over reason. Some good but Many bad things started to happen when sacred texts started to be read literally.
Published in 2000 Very timely & enlightning.
Great starter topics of conversation, especially the fundamentalism chapters, describing the control these sects have had on people over the centuries and how they operated, alot of hmmmmms
ever been called an apostate?
other such name or label?
well you should know why and how such names are used and why they are used purposefully by the wts.. awake june 22 ,2000 page 6. some people insult those who disagree with them by questioning character or motives instead of focusing on the facts.
To quote the last elder that was in my living room....
"loyalty to the organization is more important than the truth"
I'm sure he didn't realize what he had said til he was alone in bed trying to fall asleep. What a haunting discovery.
i don't read the bible very much.
i don't call god 'jehovah', either.. you know why, of course, both the bible and 'jehovah' make me think of the wtbts.
that, folks, is a very unpleasant memory, so if satan is living in brooklyn, he's succeeded in pushing me away from the good book.
Hi
I once heard out of the mouth of a little girl who had had NO bible training:
"Maybe God is just testing our family?"
Now that was inspiring!

Its young must be trained to respond positively to their own systems and negatively to all others.
Mankind is united now and always has been in regards to the unknown.
Its "nature" to want to "know" and its human nature to try to supply answers to everything. Having an answer - myth or reason - is calming.
Pick the one that soothes.
BUT careful that the "answers" you choose should not "scare" you into not living and enjoying the life you have today.
You could end up as one with an ugly rash that won't go away.
Good short read for different slant IMHO
unique hk article on jws, plus posted comments:.

Excellent point made in this article:
"It is quite bewildering to me. In many ways they (JWs)are preaching the same thing as the atheists. The atheists claim there is no life after death. They claim one simply dies. The witnesses agree. The atheists claim there is no eternal soul. The witnesses agree. The atheists claim there is no Hell, the witnesses agree. The atheists say everything happens by chance and there is no karma involved in any suffering we may experience. The witnesses agree... "
This should be in their commercials!
